Loot Cores

Loot Cores are the equivalent of lootboxes in Predecessor. They can only be purchased via Amber or obtained through ingame events. Opening a Loot Core gives you a random reward, with higher rarities having lower percentage rates.

There are two types of Loot Cores: Ion Cores and Quantum Cores. Ion Cores drop Common, Uncommon and Rare loot, whereas Quantum cores drop Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary loot. Both can also drop Amber, Platinum and Opals. The player is guaranteed to receive a Rare or higher rarity Skin if they have opened 4 Quantum Loot Cores in a row without receiving a skin of Rare or higher rarity.

One Ion Loot Core is available every day in the main Store, purchasable with 400 Amber. Both Ion and Quantum Loot Cores can be earned by taking part in special or seasonal events (such as battle passes, Twitch Drops or as rewards for taking part in competitions). Quantum Loot Cores can sometimes be acquired as a rare reward from an Ion Loot Core.

Opals

Opals can be acquired as a reward from both Ion and Quantum Cores. They can also be obtained whenever you would otherwise receive an item from a Loot Core that you already own. Opals can be exchanged for various items otherwise available exclusively via Loot Cores.
